Ferring Pharmaceuticals chooses Protiviti’s Governance Portal to streamline its internal controls and risk management processes

Ferring Pharmaceuticals, a private Swiss-based specialty biopharmaceutical group operating subsidiaries in nearly 60 countries and marketing in 110, needed to automate and optimize its internal control system (ICS), risk management and reporting to comply with the Swiss Code of Obligations. Relying on spreadsheet-based processes and manual reporting that forced a two-person risk team to rework data, Ferring selected Protiviti’s Governance Portal to streamline, scale and standardize its ICS and risk processes.

Protiviti implemented the Governance Portal across Ferring’s global sites (go-live December 2013, full roll-out 2014), delivering scalability, configurability, real-time reporting, the AME survey engine and on-site GRC support. The portal consolidated 500 risks into 70 high-level categories, reduced Excel-based reporting time from more than three weeks to two days, enabled automatic top-risk reports for strategic planning, standardized controls across affiliates and supported external audits—providing Ferring with a single source of truth and improved visibility.
