A ProTexting Case Study
SXSW needed a fast, easy-to-deploy way to engage the HATCH Pitch Competition audience, capture votes and collect feedback without building an app. The event organizers worked with ProTexting to find a ubiquitous solution that would separate in-room votes from social media votes and gather comments and contact info from investors, journalists and attendees.
ProTexting implemented text-message voting with mobile web–optimized feedback forms, real-time tallying displayed on the main-stage screen, a manual Start/Stop remote control to limit in-room voting, and separate texting channels for social media voting. The solution drove over 85% audience participation, produced nearly as many social-media votes as in-person votes, determined the Audience Favorite Award (with social votes counted separately for the Social Media Influence award), and delivered rapid results without downloads—earning strong praise from SXSW organizers.
