Lotto NZ (the New Zealand Lotteries Commission) needed to replace fragmented, Excel‑based risk registers as the organisation scaled and faced more dynamic technology and information security risks. After a procurement process led by Head of Risk & Assurance Raj Hit, Lotto NZ selected Protecht and its Protecht ERM platform to provide a flexible, enterprise‑grade system that could support revised risk and information security policies and improve accessibility across the business.

Protecht implemented Protecht ERM, importing and cleansing existing registers, aligning a new risk matrix and policies, building a custom Customer & Retailer Case Management module, and delivering governance dashboards and PDF reporting for management and the board. The solution created a single source of truth, sped up risk profiling and controls assurance, enabled direct export of risk data for third‑party reviews, and improved stakeholder visibility and self‑service; Lotto NZ now tracks 57 entries including 17 critical risks and 14 insufficient controls, while significantly reducing manual spreadsheet work and reporting time with Protecht’s on‑the‑ground support.
