One of the Largest Iron Ore Producer Uses MDO for Data Cleansing and Governance

Largest Iron Ore Company, one of the four largest iron ore producers globally and the largest tenement holder in Western Australia, faced fragmented master data and process issues across SAP and Oniqua. They needed all MRP recommendations to originate from Oniqua and flow through a controlled workflow before hitting inventory, and poor master data prevented any digital or AI initiatives; additional challenges included unwanted auto-extension of materials from site plants to the base plant and managing split valuations for new materials. Prospecta was engaged to address these issues using its MDO MDM and DIW solution.

Prospecta implemented MDO MDM and DIW to integrate Oniqua and SAP, ingest inventory recommendations from Oniqua, trigger financial-approval workflows, and sync approved data into SAP. Prospecta cleansed, standardized, enriched and deduplicated the Material Master using MDO DIW, automated base-plant material extensions and configured automated split-valuation handling. The result was stronger governance and approval controls from Prospecta, a framework for coordinated financial and inventory management, reduced operational inventory cost through duplicate elimination, automated split-valuation management, and clean master data that enables future digital and AI initiatives.
