ProShip Accelerates Business for Fifth Gear

Fifth Gear, a third-party e‑commerce fulfillment provider that ships more than 20,000 packages a day, faced increasing complexity from carrier label changes and client shipping rules that made its existing, third‑party‑linked rate‑shopping setup brittle and slow to update. Although Fifth Gear had been using the ProShip rate‑shopping engine behind a third‑party interface, the extra touchpoint reduced agility and stability, threatening on‑time, cost‑effective delivery for its retail clients.

To address this, Fifth Gear migrated to ProShip’s web‑based enterprise solution and worked with the ProShip team to implement direct OMS integration (going live in two facilities in July 2013 and adding a third in October). ProShip components—including ProShip Velocity, the Input Logic Server (ILS), and the ProShip SDK—enabled real‑time rate shopping and label printing at the packing station, exception handling, and backend billing integration. The result: faster, more reliable label generation, the ability to print multiple labels simultaneously, scalable capacity to add customers without interruption, and full operational readiness before the Q4 peak.
