A ProQuest Case Study
Universidad de los Andes, a private university in Bogotá, needed a better way to help faculty and PhD students find research funding. Much of the application process had been handled manually, and its research database was underused. Andrea Navas Calixto, Research and Doctorates Manager, wanted to build a stronger culture of finding grants and collaborators, especially as research activity grew.
With ProQuest’s Pivot database, the university centralized funding opportunities and added collaborator discovery in one tool. Researchers began saving searches and receiving grant alerts, while Andrea used the platform to guide students and faculty toward relevant funding types and keywords. ProQuest says Pivot centralizes $33 billion in funding opportunities and includes more than 3 million scholar profiles, helping Universidad de los Andes move beyond mostly national grants and find more organized information on international funding opportunities.
