Streamlining Workflow and Improving E-Resource Management

American University, a private doctoral institution in Washington, D.C., saw a rapid shift toward electronic resources as more than 60% of its library budget was allocated to e-resources over three years. The library needed an intuitive, integrated e-resource management approach with a robust knowledgebase so staff could better manage licenses, subscriptions, and access to a growing collection.

American University implemented ProQuest’s Serials Solutions 360 Resource Manager, 360 Core, 360 Counter, KnowledgeWorks, and Summon web-scale discovery service. The system centralized administrative records, licensing information, and three years of usage data, reduced updates from seven systems to three, and gave staff harder data for cost and usage analysis. The library said the implementation was smooth and that ProQuest helped streamline workflows so the e-resources team could spend more time on users and less on system maintenance.
