Case Study: Villanova University improves discovery and access with ProQuest

Helping Libraries Remain at the Forefront Of Technological Innovation

Villanova University, a premier institution with more than 10,000 students in Villanova, Pennsylvania, needed an open-source local-catalog replacement that would integrate with its existing search environment and make its large volume of library information easier to search. The library also wanted to stay at the forefront of innovation while improving access to both physical and electronic resources.

Villanova University adopted ProQuest’s Summon service, 360 Link, and 360 Counter, integrating them into its VuFind search environment with a two-panel results display. ProQuest’s tools allowed the library to aggregate content in one searchable place, improve linking to full text, and gather usage data for budgeting and ROI decisions, while staff reported a seamless rollout and quick adoption by users.
