A ProQuest Case Study
Boğaziçi University needed a more modern search and discovery experience for its library patrons, who increasingly expected a simple, Google-like one-box search. Its federated search system was described as outdated and inadequate, and the library needed a way to search a collection that included 400,000 e-books, 79,000 e-journals, and over 635,000 hard copy publications. The university turned to ProQuest and its Summon service.
ProQuest implemented Summon, 360 Link, and ProQuest Central to provide a single-provider search and discovery setup with accurate full-text access and a larger resource portfolio. The library said patrons responded positively to the one-box interface and faster access to resources, while staff saved time because 360 Link is hosted on ProQuest servers and does not require manual backups, updates, or maintenance. Boğaziçi University also reported that the implementation was very smooth and straightforward.
