Purdue Pharma (Canada), a privately held leader in pain management with about 356 employees, faced a slow, error-prone budgeting process that relied on more than 40 Excel spreadsheets and took four to six weeks to prepare annually. Although they had been using Prophix Enterprise for monthly reporting, the Office of Finance needed greater flexibility and control to streamline budgeting, consolidation and reporting workflows.

Upgrading to Prophix Version 12 added data imports, rebuilt reports, new personnel and sales/costing models, and journal entry functionality, while integrating with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and SharePoint to improve usability. The upgrade enabled linked due dates and templates, multiple reviewer/approver workflows, consolidation of models into a single template, and monthly consolidating entries—resulting in faster monthly reporting, better collaboration and security, and greater acceptance among casual budget users.
