First Medical Health Plan (FMHP) is a fast-growing Puerto Rico–based health services organization (headquartered in Guaynabo, >500 employees) that found its financial processes outstripped by spreadsheets. Budgeting was done top‑down with little departmental participation, and finance leaders needed an easy-to-use solution that would automate budgeting and forecasting, involve budget owners across the company, and unlock transactional insight from their Microsoft Dynamics GP ERP.

Working with Fusionworks, FMHP implemented Prophix’s CPM suite—using Detailed Planning Manager for personnel and payroll planning, Workflow Manager to consolidate budgets across 2 lines of business, 33 departments and 19 locations, and Ad Hoc Analysis for daily variance review. Integrated with Dynamics GP, the solution automated annual budgeting, reporting and scenario planning, sped up report generation and distribution, improved forecasting and operational analysis (membership, premiums, payroll), and drove a cultural shift toward more budget-oriented, data‑driven decision making with strong executive buy‑in.
