Rich Products Corporation, a family-owned global food manufacturer operating in dozens of facilities worldwide, struggled with massive amounts of unstructured data spread across multiple datacenters and file servers. Rich deployed Proofpoint Enterprise Data Discover to scan and classify content on file shares and SharePoint, producing a document inventory and heat map to locate, relocate, encrypt, and apply access controls to sensitive files. The initial HQ scan found over 500,000 files and several thousand requiring extra protection; ongoing monitoring and enforced classifications have improved Rich’s ability to secure data, with plans to extend coverage to 40–50 additional regional sites.
