Snowball Studios, an Israel-based 3D animation and VFX studio with teams in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Toronto, needed a more secure, easier-to-manage remote access solution for collaborators working on its cloud-hosted Harmonica project system and on-premises render farms. The existing FortiGate VPN setup required managing hundreds of clients, routed insecurely through office VPNs to AWS, and delivered poor remote performance that hurt productivity.

Snowball replaced the VPN with Proofpoint Meta’s Software-Defined Perimeter, deploying a MetaPort gateway in the Tel Aviv data center, Meta clients for desktop access, and clientless MetaConnect browser access to Harmonica. The identity-based, zero-trust platform centralized policy management, sped onboarding, secured access with full audit trails, and improved performance by routing users to the nearest global POP—simplifying IT operations and increasing user satisfaction.
