Princeton University, an Ivy League institution serving roughly 8,500 students, needed to protect its email communications and domain reputation while moving more infrastructure to the cloud. The IT team faced challenges securing interactions with students, faculty and vendors, managing high‑volume Listserv sends and third‑party mailers, and avoiding new on‑premises infrastructure.
Princeton implemented Proofpoint Secure Email Relay to centralize outbound mail, enforce email authentication for third‑party senders, and scan outbound messages for spam and malware. The hosted, scalable solution gave the university greater visibility and control over transactional email, preserved its domain reputation, and supported its ongoing cloud migration.
