Ixom strengthens protection of manufacturing operations from email fraud attacks with Proofpoint

Ixom, a 100+-year‑old market leader in water treatment and chemical distribution with more than 1,000 employees across nine countries, faced a growing cybersecurity risk to its global manufacturing and distribution operations—particularly from email fraud, business email compromise (BEC), phishing and ransomware. Protecting production integrity, sensitive data and financial processes meant strengthening email defenses and reducing the chance that impersonation or credential theft could trigger costly incidents.

Ixom deployed Proofpoint’s suite—Email Fraud Defense (with Hosted SPF and DMARC support), Targeted Attack Protection (TAP), Threat Response Auto‑Pull (TRAP) and Security Awareness Training—to harden email channels and educate users. The result: automated detection and removal of malicious messages, fewer phishing outbreaks and less manual response work; more than 62% of inbound malicious email is blocked, phishing simulation participation rose 18% over 90 days, and ongoing reporting and visibility into targeted users have measurably reduced email‑related risk.
