A global consumer foods company with dozens of brands and social presences in more than 100 countries struggled with account sprawl, many unauthorized impostor pages, and a high volume of profanity and offensive posts. The decentralized setup lacked central reporting, forcing manual audits and moderation that consumed a full-time employee’s attention and risked damage to the brand’s reputation.
The company deployed Proofpoint Social Discover to find all brand-linked accounts and Proofpoint Social Patrol to automate real-time moderation and threat protection. The tools identified 1,590 accounts (1,527 unauthorized, ~96%), reviewed about 745,000 messages over six months, and during one Instagram attack processed ~387 items/day and removed 332/day, flagging significant profanity, hate speech, and adult language. The solution restored visibility, protected the brand, and eliminated the need to hire additional moderators.
