Corralling Email-based Threats to Keep Them Out of Users’ Mailboxes

Agri‑Marché, an agricultural food company that manufactures animal feed, operates swine and poultry breeding farms and ships grain products, needed better visibility and prevention against email‑based threats. Their previous email security couldn’t detect phishing, malicious URLs or attachments, and they required a solution that would protect 300 mailboxes across five domains while remaining manageable for a two‑person IT security team.

They deployed Proofpoint Email Protection and Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection (URL and Attachment Defense), which immediately flagged high volumes of previously invisible threats (about 40% of message traffic), rewrote and blocked malicious links, and stopped more than 200 threats—including multiple ransomware variants—while eliminating spoofing. The deployment took only a few days, significantly increased spam/virus/phishing catch rates, simplified remediation, reduced workload for the small team, and provided responsive support.
