AVL Improves its own Safety and That of its Customers and Partners

AVL List GmbH, a Graz-based company with more than 11,500 employees and the world’s largest independent developer of drive systems for vehicles, faced growing email security risks as attackers targeted its intellectual property and supply-chain relationships. Its legacy email protection no longer met detection requirements, lacked key features such as sandboxing, and forced significant manual intervention, so AVL needed a faster, more effective solution.

AVL implemented Proofpoint’s email security suite—including Email Protection, Targeted Attack Protection, Threat Response Auto Pull and Email Fraud Defense—chosen after a successful proof‑of‑concept and deployed with partner Anovis in three months. The new system raised detection rates, enabled automatic removal of malicious emails (Auto‑Pull), enforced a DMARC reject policy to stop spoofing, and delivered higher user safety, increased productivity and lower email‑security costs.
