CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM), a Perth-based subsidiary of Hong Kong’s CITIC Limited that operates the Sino Iron mine, depends on data to optimize its mining, processing and port operations. The company needed to secure its network and email communications to protect people and sensitive data and keep operations running, but its legacy email security could not keep pace with rising phishing, fraud and malware threats.

Working with Lumen IT, CPM deployed Proofpoint’s suite—Email Protection plus Information Protection (Endpoint DLP, CASB, SaaS isolation, Insider Threat Management), Email DLP & Encryption, Intelligent Classification and security awareness and fraud defenses. The solution stopped malicious and unwanted email, exposed cloud application risks, added sensitive-data context and DLP visibility, improved leadership reporting through quarterly business reviews, and delivered a more human‑centric, data-aware approach to protecting CPM’s people, data and operations.
