Swiss Company, a Swiss provider of Internet solutions for e-commerce and client-bank systems, needed a secure way to let customers carry out online banking transactions from potentially untrusted computers. To address this challenge, they worked with Promwad to build a protected USB dongle with an integrated browser for secure banking access and data handling.

Promwad implemented a hardware-software solution based on a SanDisk U3 smart USB drive, combining a secure launcher, customized Firefox browser, and PKCS#11 secure token library. The system provided tamper-resistant storage, encrypted file and data handling, integrity checks, secure updates, online activation, and secure deletion, with support for Windows XP and Vista. The project was completed in 5 months and delivered a portable banking environment designed to prevent malware tampering and fake-site substitution.
