State Owned Railway Company - Customer Case Study

Promwad worked with a State Owned Railway Company to develop a universal communication and navigation unit for installation in the train engineer’s cab. The customer needed a reliable device to collect GPS/GLONASS coordinates, handle dual-SIM roaming, accept operator and train data, read third-party information via CAN bus, display status, and keep transmitting data even when the server connection was unavailable.

Promwad delivered a prototype built from three connected hardware modules plus Linux- and FreeRTOS-based software, including a GUI, communication services, internal storage, Wi‑Fi status transfer, and a power unit for long idle operation on a wide railway voltage range. The result was a working device with complete software and documentation, enabling the State Owned Railway Company to move toward mass production.
