A Promwad Case Study
Promwad was engaged by NXP, a leading manufacturer of sensor technologies, after a critical microcontroller in their industrial distance sensor was discontinued. The client faced potential production downtime, financial loss, and reputational risk, needing to migrate the sensor's firmware to a new hardware platform.
Promwad's solution involved selecting the NXP MC9S08SH8 microcontroller and migrating the firmware from Assembly to C, optimizing for memory constraints using a Super Loop architecture. They reverse-engineered undocumented systems using a Python protocol and created a sensor simulator for validation. This allowed NXP to maintain full sensor functionality and prevent production delays, ensuring stable equipment operation without financial loss.
