Promwad worked with a manufacturer of rugged and industrial communication equipment that needed to develop a new line of industrial managed gigabit switches with 8 and 16 ports. The customer was looking for a reliable, manageable hardware platform for rugged networking devices, including support for industrial Ethernet features and PoE.

Promwad designed reference industrial managed switches based on the Microsemi/Vitesse VSC74xx controller and Linux kernel, with 10Gbase-X and 10/100/1000Base-T ports, plus full management and networking software. The result was a new series of products for simpler network management, with Promwad delivering specification development, schematic and PCB design, mechanical and thermal work, prototypes, board bring-up, and SDK integration.
