A Promwad Case Study
Lapka, a design startup, needed to develop and manufacture an initial batch of its Lapka environmental sensors for iPhone, a set of four devices housed in distinctive wooden cubes. They faced the complex challenge of turning their concept into a manufacturable product, requiring material selection, enclosure design, prototyping, and preparation for mass production. They engaged the engineering firm Promwad to handle this full-cycle development and manufacturing preparation.
Promwad executed a detailed technical discovery and implementation process. They selected specific materials like dark hardwood, ivory plastic, and two grades of stainless steel for a magnetic probe attachment. Promwad developed all design documentation, produced functional prototypes, manufactured the required pressing molds and equipment for serial production, and delivered a pilot batch of sensor sets. The results included a fully optimized design for mass production and an aesthetically distinctive final product ready for trial.
