Alpine Electronics of America, Inc launches hybrid IVI on Qualcomm SA8155P in 24h with Promwad

Promwad was engaged by Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. to solve complex engineering challenges for their in-vehicle infotainment system (IVI). The project required debugging the Qualcomm SA8155P SDK and developing an AirPlay server capable of supporting two iOS clients, alongside implementing DRM systems and a remote virtual display.

Promwad developed a hybrid IVI system running Android 10 and QNX 7 on the Qualcomm SA8155P platform. This solution enabled Alpine to successfully demonstrate the system at CES 2020, which directly led to securing contracts with automotive leaders General Motors and Harley Davidson. The project's success initiated a proof of concept with General Motors for a robo-taxi multimedia system.
