A Promwad Case Study
AK-Systems, a Russian developer, manufacturer, and integrator of high-tech electronic devices, needed a compact, low-power multifunctional mini server for SOHO networks. Working with **Promwad**, they aimed to create an IP-Plug device that could serve as a Wi‑Fi access point, internet gateway, network printer/scanner, backup server, and file server while running 24/7 on 220 V power.
**Promwad** developed the IP-Plug mini server on a Marvell Kirkwood 88F6283 processor with dual Gigabit Ethernet, USB, and optional Wi‑Fi/BT support, adapting U-Boot, Linux, Debian, FreeNAS-based UI, and OpenWRT/Asterisk software. The result was a small device measuring 118 x 76 x 43 mm with average power consumption below 5 W and maximum consumption of 15 W, plus low production cost and a modern enclosure design.
