Case Study: a US high-end audio manufacturer achieves self-verifying turntable precision with Promwad

A Promwad Case Study

Preview of the US High-end Audio Manufacturer Case Study

a US high-end audio manufacturer builds a self-verifying turntable with Promwad, targeting Wow & Flutter ≤0.02%

The US high-end audio manufacturer needed to develop a new direct-drive turntable that could objectively prove its precision to buyers, moving beyond mere claims. Their internal demo stand could not achieve the required accuracy, so they engaged Promwad for a technical discovery. Promwad's analysis concluded the issue was structural, requiring a complete redesign rather than just firmware tuning.

Promwad organized a cross-disciplinary team to completely redesign the turntable's mechanics and electronics. Their solution centered on a Texas Instruments C2000 microcontroller running Field-Oriented Control for smooth motor operation and included embedded firmware that measures its own wow and flutter in real time. This provided the client with a complete design package ready for prototyping and a key product differentiator, as embedded metrology eliminates the need for external verification on the production line.
