A startup in the consumer electronics market approached Promwad with the challenge of designing a compact digital handheld transceiver for kite surfers. The device required group radio communication across multiple international markets, a built-in MP3 player, an emergency button, and an IP68 rating for high protection against water and impacts, all while maintaining a small form factor with no external antenna.

Promwad developed a complete solution, including the hardware based on an STM32 microcontroller, custom software for digital signal processing and an MP3 player, and the industrial design for the enclosure. The result was a market-ready device with a PCB size minimized through layout optimization, a coverage range comparable to analog radios, and reduced power consumption. The components were also selected for wide market availability, facilitating production.
