The customer, a manufacturer of rugged and industrial communication equipment, faced the challenge of developing a new line of industrial managed gigabit Ethernet switches with 8 and 16 ports. They partnered with the embedded systems vendor Promwad to create these robust networking products.

Promwad developed a complete Linux-based hardware platform using the Microchip VSC74xx switch controller. The solution delivered managed switches featuring 10G SFP+ ports, PoE-enabled Gigabit Ethernet ports, and advanced Layer 2 software functions. As a result, the customer received a series of new, fully-developed products ready for market, enabling simple network management for their industrial clients.
