The customer, Star Finanz, a leading German provider of mobile banking software, sought to comprehensively protect its StarMoney applications from emerging threats like trojans and malware without relying on frequent software updates. They chose to implement the Promon SHIELD® solution from the vendor, Promon, to address this security challenge.

Promon's solution used an innovative whitelisting approach to protect the application itself, automatically blocking access from any unauthorized program, including new and unknown malware. This eliminated the need for constant updates required by traditional blacklist-based security. Following integration, an independent test by the S-CERT team successfully repelled a series of attacks using the latest trojans and malware, proving the solution's effectiveness. The implementation provided strong security for end-users without affecting the application's performance.
