The Northern Kentucky Health Department (NKY Health) faced significant operational challenges due to its outdated on-premises VMware environment, which included soaring licensing costs, expensive hardware maintenance, and a precarious single point of failure that risked agency-wide outages. These issues, compounded by HIPAA compliance risks, prompted NKY Health to partner with Promevo to find a modern, cost-effective cloud solution.

Promevo implemented a two-phase solution, beginning with a proof of concept to validate a migration to Google Cloud. The vendor then executed a full production migration, which included deploying Managed Active Directory, establishing file shares with NetApp Volumes for Epic system access, and creating a more resilient network. This new HIPAA-aligned foundation resulted in immediate operational improvements and is expected to save the department at least $16,600 annually by eliminating VMware licensing and hardware maintenance costs.
