World’s Largest Vendors of Office Product Industry, one of the world’s largest office products retailers, needed to improve efficiency across a vast global organization and reduce operating costs. Its international division was relying on a static, homegrown intranet that lacked robust document management and made it difficult for employees to share information across borders. Prolifics helped evaluate the opportunity with a proof of concept and proposed a portal-based approach using IBM technologies.

Prolifics implemented a standardized Center of Excellence using WebSphere Portal, Lotus Workplace, WebSphere Business Integration, Rational Studio, and a Web services model on IBM pSeries infrastructure. The solution created an Employee Portal for centralized access to content, self-service services, and automated workflow approvals, improving collaboration, productivity, internal communications, and training efficiency. It also delivered 40+ corporate application use cases and laid the groundwork for future integration with supplier networks and retail locations.
