University of Kent boosts API reliability to 2,000 requests per hour with Prolifics Testing

The University of Kent needed to validate the performance and scalability of its Attendance Registration System and its integration with the Tribal Group SITS student management system. To ensure the APIs could handle large volumes of simultaneous users without performance degradation, the university engaged Prolifics Testing to conduct comprehensive API performance testing on the Simac Presto application and the StuTalk integration framework.

Prolifics Testing employed JMeter to script and execute tests simulating workloads of up to 3,000 API requests per hour. The testing identified optimal performance thresholds, determining the Presto API could reliably handle 2,000 requests per hour and the StuTalk API 1,200 requests per hour. This provided the university with precise configuration recommendations to prevent bottlenecks, ensuring system reliability and smooth operations under high load. Prolifics Testing delivered all test assets to the client for future on-demand re-testing.
