Silesia Gerhard Hanke GmbH, a manufacturer of aromas for the food industry, faced a challenge in automating its new powder production plant. Their existing system was not optimal for batch production, and they required a solution that could integrate over twenty different plant sections and, most importantly, provide a certified coupling to their supervisory SAP production planning system. To address this, they commissioned the vendor ProLeiT to implement a new process control system.

ProLeiT implemented its OS-NT process control system and a specialized batch server, utilizing its certified interface to the SAP PP-PI module. This solution allowed Silesia to plan all production in SAP, with ProLeiT's system executing the jobs, providing operator instructions, and monitoring the plant. The results included the elimination of operating errors, transparent and economical production, and a complete closed-loop where all process data is documented and immediately sent back to the SAP system, integrating all business areas with the automation process.
