Kerry Ingredients, a major global food ingredient provider, faced the challenge of integrating disparate plant sections from various manufacturers at its breadcrumb production facility. Their goal was to increase productivity by unifying batch and continuous procedures into a single, consistent process control system. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor ProLeiT and implemented its Plant iT process control system, specifically utilizing the Batch iT module for recipe management.

ProLeiT's solution provided a fully integrated automation platform that dynamically adjusted recipes in real-time based on actual liquid quantities, a feature called residue monitoring. This allowed for precise dosing of solids and gave operators the ability to make manual adjustments for dough consistency. The results included a significant increase in productivity and major quality improvements. The success led Kerry to standardize on ProLeiT's system, rolling it out to two additional European production plants.
