Lichtwer Healthcare, a Berlin-based manufacturer of phytopharmaceuticals, faced a challenge in integrating approximately 20 disparate automation systems across its production areas, including weighing and mixing. These "insular solutions" hindered a cohesive production flow and required a connection to its Charisma ERP system. Seeking a partner with specific competency in system coupling, the company selected vendor ProLeiT AG to implement a process control system.

ProLeiT implemented its OS-NT process control system, Industrial Data Server (IDS), and VD weighing and metering module to create a consistent overall automation solution. The system integrated all subareas, enabled operation via wireless terminals, and established a seamless bidirectional link to the ERP system. The results included the elimination of operator errors, 100% compliant batch documentation per GMP regulations, and a foundation for paperless electronic batch records, providing Lichtwer with complete traceability and transparency in its highly flexible plant.
