Klosterbrauerei Andechs - Customer Case Study

Klosterbrauerei Andechs, a German brewery producing 117,000 hectoliters of beer annually for a Benedictine abbey, needed to modernize its aging brewhouse to maintain its high beer quality and improve energy efficiency. They partnered with vendor ProLeiT to update the process control system alongside Huppmann's equipment upgrades.

ProLeiT implemented its brewmaxx process control system, replacing the old Braumat system and S5 controller with a modern S7-based architecture. The solution integrated control for the entire brewing process, from milling to fermentation. The upgrade was completed during a remarkably short two-week production shutdown, with the first new brew completed in under three days. The modernization, which included new energy-saving cycles and automation, successfully achieved the goals of preserving the brewery's renowned quality and exploiting new energy-saving potentials.
