Diageo uses consistent ProLeiT technology to modernize its Great Northern Brewery

Diageo, a major beverage producer, faced a challenge modernizing the obsolete automation system at its Great Northern Brewery in Dundalk, Ireland. The outdated technology risked production shutdowns and required costly troubleshooting. Diageo's goal was to ensure reliable operation and reduce costs by replacing isolated control solutions with a single, consistent system. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor ProLeiT to implement the brewmaxx process control system.

ProLeiT implemented the brewmaxx solution in two strategic phases. The first involved detailed specification to modernize areas from the fermenting cellars to the filling station, while the second, more efficient phase leveraged ProLeiT's expertise to modernize the brewhouse with minimal documentation. The project was completed without interrupting delivery capacity, and the new system was integrated with the existing MES. The result was a significant reduction in detailed specification costs and simplified engineering, leading Diageo to commend ProLeiT for its excellent management and brewing process knowledge.
