Cognis Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, a producer of food additives, faced the challenge of integrating a new reactor into its existing emulsifier production process to improve product quality and batch tracking. The company tasked automation vendor ProLeiT with creating a uniform, integrated control system to connect this upstream reactor to the already automated refining stages of their plant.

ProLeiT implemented a solution using an unusual combination of its Plant iT software modules, specifically Plant Batch iT and Plant Liqu iT. This integrated system provided a user-friendly batch matrix for operators, enabled comprehensive batch-related documentation, and allowed for full batch traceability from raw materials to the final product. The result was significantly greater process transparency and optimized batch control for Cognis. ProLeiT's system also provided a uniform platform for future expansion, including plans to connect an older reactor.
