Innovative app delivers OTC medication info based on symptoms

MedifVU, a healthcare analytics company, needed a mobile app and backend that could work as a stand-alone solution or integrate into a larger pharmacy or healthcare system. To support its OTC medication decision tools, MedifVU turned to ProKarma to help build an app that could connect with third-party Structured Product Labeling (SPL) services, let users store symptoms and medications, and offer a familiar scoring system for choosing the best cough, cold, and flu medications.

ProKarma delivered the iPharmAssist app using an Agile approach, along with strategy, solution architecture, UX/UI design, and extensive testing. Built on a MySQL database with flexible service layers, the solution can pull from any data source without modification and is designed to be easily extended or integrated into other mobile solutions. The result was an intuitive app that delivers personalized OTC guidance instantly and supports information on more than 200 drugs.
