Columbia Sportswear Company partnered with ProKarma to expand its mobile portfolio with GPS PAL, a ground-breaking app and companion website for outdoor enthusiasts. The challenge was to create an experience that focused less on performance tracking and more on journaling adventures, capturing photos, videos, notes, and GPS-tagged trek stories that users could share with friends and family.

ProKarma developed the solution with parallel iOS and Android apps, a shared backend, and a companion website, supported by Experience Design, Analytics, and Digital Engineering. The launch earned high-profile media coverage and Apple recognition as “New and Noteworthy,” and the app has since surpassed 200 App Store ratings with an average of over 4 stars, while ongoing analytics from Flurry and Google Analytics continue to guide future updates.
