Zurich, a large international insurer, faced the challenge of running distributed development projects with external consultants while meeting strict security, availability and usability requirements. The company needed robust version management, concurrent document editing, real‑time communication and easy access from multiple browsers and Citrix sessions. Planview ProjectPlace implemented its Projectplace web-based project tool to provide online document sharing, active version control and integrated web conferences/online meetings accessible to internal and external team members. The solution, in use since 2007, enabled shorter, more frequent meetings and tighter coordination — delivering significant time efficiencies and nearly EUR 400,000 in travel-cost savings in 2009 — while increasing project tempo and improving overall performance and access.
