Case Study: The National Archives achieves secure, efficient large-scale digitisation and collaboration with Planview ProjectPlace

A Planview ProjectPlace Case Study

Preview of the The National Archives Case Study

The Swedish National Archives chooses Projectplace for Europe’s largest digitisation project

The National Archives (Riksarkivet) faced a major organisational challenge after merging regional authorities: managing a rapidly growing portfolio of projects across almost 20 sites, meeting stringent security requirements, and coordinating one of Europe’s largest digitisation efforts with domestic and international partners. To address this, The National Archives selected Planview ProjectPlace’s cloud-based project collaboration tool, Projectplace, to enable secure, distributed project work and cross-agency collaboration.

Planview ProjectPlace implemented Projectplace to standardize project stages, control access to shared documents, support steering and project groups, and deliver weekly status reports. Used by Digisam and in joint projects with the Swedish Tax Agency, the tool now helps plan the scanning of millions of documents, manage a digital archive of about 2 PB that grows ~0.5 PB per year, and handle 30,000–40,000 annual information requests—improving process control, collaboration across sites, and saving time and money, according to The National Archives.
