Sandvik Mining - Customer Case Study

Sandvik Mining, a global supplier of mining equipment and services, undertook a major build of a 27,000 m² Hunter Valley facility and needed to coordinate construction and integrate six regional business units. The project required secure, efficient sharing and version control of detailed drawings and documents with external stakeholders, something Sandvik’s existing infrastructure could not support, so Sandvik Mining turned to Planview ProjectPlace and its Projectplace web‑based social project management solution.

Planview ProjectPlace implemented Projectplace as a secure, cloud-based collaboration hub with version control, document review requests and change alerts, making it easy to invite and update internal and external stakeholders. The system supported over 1,300 onsite inductions, eliminated large-file email distribution, reduced risk of errors from outdated documents, improved visibility across teams and helped Sandvik Mining complete the Hunter Valley site in November 2011 while integrating six regional factories.
