Europe-wide cooperation for integrated transport safety

Daimler led the Europe-wide EASIS programme to develop standardised, modular electrical and integrated safety systems across 23 companies and five languages—a complex, safety‑critical initiative requiring coordination of hardware, software, sensors and rigorous approval processes. To manage distributed teams and frequent online meetings, Daimler used the web collaboration platform from Planview ProjectPlace (Projectplace) to plan work, exchange information and run virtual conferences.

Planview ProjectPlace provided a self‑service, web‑based collaboration solution that enabled 75 active users at 23 locations to share documents, define responsibilities, carry out approval procedures and produce quarterly reports for the European Commission. Over the three‑year, €9M EASIS project it processed 3.5 GB of data, helped Daimler successfully complete the programme and is now being reused by Daimler for other multi‑site projects due to its ease of use and effective support for distributed teamwork.
