Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited, a global insurance and reinsurance provider, faced significant challenges with its manual and inefficient project portfolio management processes. Despite having a partial PPM tool and a separate timesheet system, reporting was largely manual, consuming extensive resources and resulting in low timesheet compliance. To boost efficiency and enable more consistent project delivery, Aspen sought to replace its Excel-based methods and needed a new solution, leading them to vendor Project Portfolio Office (PPO).

Project Portfolio Office implemented its PPO project and portfolio management solution, which included out-of-the-box timesheet functionality, consolidating two platforms into one. This provided real-time visibility into project time and costs and delivered considerable time savings through one-click reporting. The results were substantial, with Aspen saving between half and three-quarters of a full-time EPMO employee's time on reporting and saving each project manager several administrative days per month, achieving estimated efficiency gains of 10 to 15 percent per person.
