The UK’s largest electricity distribution network faced significant challenges within its finance function, including poor efficiency driven by high headcount, complex legacy systems, and fragmented data. These issues were compounded by multiple ongoing corporate acquisitions and divestments. To address this, the customer engaged Project One to set up and run a robust and intelligent Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure clear governance and accountability across a multi-workstream transformation programme.

Project One implemented a clear programme structure with defined workstreams for each key process and established a strong governance framework. This included creating stage gates, consolidated plans, and RAID logs to track progress and manage risks effectively. As a result, each workstream delivered its efficiency and effectiveness targets on time, enabling the full implementation of the new target operating model and a smooth transition to a new organisational design.
