A Project Insight Case Study
The Business Solutions Group at a national furniture retailer — the liaison between IT and the business — was managing 10–20 concurrent projects (and many subprojects) but lacked centralized tools for resource allocation, accurate timelines/percent-complete tracking, and reliable scope/impact estimates. This made communication and planning difficult, especially during large rollouts like a point-of-sale upgrade where multiple teams and release groups were involved.
The group implemented Project Insight to add structure, centralized timelines, milestones and detailed time tracking across projects and non-project work. The result: significantly better estimating and budgeting, accurate resource-allocation visibility (preventing developer overallocation), improved change-request quoting through stakeholder routing, and a strategic pipeline view (percent complete, estimated vs. used hours, budget) that helps management and the CIO make stronger business cases.
