A Progress Software Case Study
Zuidnatie, a long-established cargo-handling and logistics company at the Port of Antwerp, needed to keep evolving its operations to meet growing market demand, handle complex shipments, and speed up customs processing. The company had been using Progress Software partner Organi’s logistics and accounting solutions for years, and decided to move from its older COBOL-based system to a newer Progress OpenEdge-based platform called the Organi Logistic System (OLS).
Progress Software and Organi implemented OLS to integrate logistics, warehousing, customs, finance, and reporting into one system with more automation and flexibility. The results were significant: Zuidnatie cut customs-processing resources by 50% and reduced total headcount by one-third, while also moving container clearance from up to four days to the same day or even within an hour. With Progress Software, Zuidnatie gained better visibility, faster reporting, improved accuracy, and stronger 24x7 operational reliability.
