Unisys Global Media needed a way for its Hermes news content manager to communicate seamlessly with customers’ existing Oracle databases and software packages so it could improve publishing workflows and reduce production costs. To solve this, Unisys worked with Progress Software, using DataDirect’s wire protocol ODBC driver for Oracle to provide fast, reliable database connectivity.

Progress Software helped Unisys embed the driver into Hermes, simplifying and speeding up information access across editorial creation, pagination, and archiving. The result was better control of the production process, faster newspaper publishing, improved efficiency, and lower production costs, while also letting Unisys focus more on its core business.
